About Us

Ballydesmond National School is a rural, co-educational, vertical primary school located on the Cork-Kerry border. The school is situated beside the local church, over-looking the village. It is a Catholic school under the patronage of the Bishop of Kerry.

The school promotes a caring ethos and respectful relationship between staff and pupils to ensure that children reach their full potential holistically. The welcoming and inviting atmosphere in our school gives all the members of our school community a sense of belonging.

Our school has undergone major refurbishments in recent years and is now an ultra-modern primary school, catering for a current enrolment of 106 pupils and growing.

All playground areas in Ballydesmond NS are finished with Astro-Turf, making them extremely safe for the pupils of the school.

Our Board of Management has always provided supportive leadership and has ensured effective management of our school. Our school has a positive and collaborative relationship with the parents of our pupils, who support the school in a very constructive manner. The school also benefits hugely from the committed support of our dedicated Parents Council.

The teachers of Ballydesmond NS create an inclusive, pupil-centred environment. Pupils are afforded the opportunity to participate in a wide range of events throughout the year, all of which enhance their learning and development. These activities include :
