New Playground Surface for Ballydesmond NS

Pupils and Staff at Ballydesmond National School got a wonderful early Christmas present with the recent completion of an upgrade to their playground facilities. Funded under the Department of Education's 'Summer Works Scheme', the project was undertaken by the school's Board of Management in partnership with Kelly Farm Modernisation Ltd.

Speaking about the upgraded play area, Principal Pat Neenan was keen to outline the added benefits to pupil welfare: "This new surface provides the safest of environments for our pupils to play on. While little falls and tumbles are inevitable as children play, we have already seen the eradication of cuts and bruises due to this new state of the art surface. Excitement levels were at fever pitch when the children finally got to play on it and with an added emphasis being placed on getting outside this year, having this type of all weather facility is invaluable." Pat said.

While delighted to get the project over the line, Mr. Neenan was very keen to pay tribute to his predecessor. "Gerard Lucey began this process several years ago and I am very grateful for the groundwork he laid. The school's state of the art facilities are a wonderful legacy of his time as principal" Pat said.
